With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our father Dino Stewart Kootenay, on September 17, 2025 at the age of 55, a member of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation.
He will be forever remembered by his four sons: Cody, Bryan, Clyde, & William; six grandchildren: Carter, Kellan, Micheal, Alesia, Roman, & Taisley; siblings: Thelma, Elly, Maria, Steve, Ricky, Sandra, Tina, & Miranda; uncles: Leslie, August, & Nick; and his nephew, Aaron.
He was predeceased by his parents: mother, Angela Kootenay & father, Peter Richini; raised by Uncle Sammy Burnstick & Aunty Sarah Burnstick; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
A Traditional Ceremony will be held in Alexander First Nation at the Community Hall on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 11:00am to 3:00pm, when the interment will take place at the Alexander First Nation Cemetery. A Pipe Ceremony will take place at 2:00pm, prior to burial.
