It is with fond memories and thankfulness for a long life, that we announce the passing of Eleanor Harder (nee Gale) on December 19, 2021 at Smithfield Lodge in Westlock, AB at the age of 97 years. She passed on the fourth Sunday of Advent – a time to give praise for what God has done.

Eleanor leaves to mourn her loss: three sons, Cameron (Dorothy), Blaine (Noreen), and Bill (Anna); Grandchildren, Joel (Sara), Kristel (Daniel), Ryan (Alex), Erin (Ken), Melissa (Mark), Chelsey (Kyle), Sarah (Mark), and Alexander; Step-grandchildren Robin (Scott) and Brent (Kelly); Ten great grandchildren. One sister, Marilyn, one brother, Murray (Marv) and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Ewert (June, 2017), her parents Gladys & Russell, baby grandson, Daniel (1980), a brother-in-law, Ralph and her sisters Shirley and Audrey (2020).

Eleanor was born on September 10, 1924 in Three Hills. She went on to become a school teacher in a one room school. She always valued education and needed to know that grandchildren and great grandchildren learned to read. She married Ewert Harder in 1951. They raised their 3 sons in Edmonton until a move to Westlock in 1972. Both Eleanor & Ewert were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Eventually the couple moved to Smithfield Lodge where she has been well cared for ever since. Eleanor kept up with the lives of her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
