It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Doreen Rice (formerly of Westlock, AB) at the Good Samaritan home in Edmonton, AB on September 25, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters: Dianne, Donna (Larry), Helen (Doug), Brenda, and Shelley; her son Robert; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her sister Margaret Zaborowski and a sister-in-law Linda McFadden, both from Weyburn,
SK; a sister-in-law Muriel Jeffery from Ottawa, ON; and many friends & relatives.
Mom was predeceased by her husband John Douglas Rice; her two brothers Don (Linda) & Doug (Helen) McFadden, both from Weyburn, SK; and brother-in-law Barry Jeffery (Muriel) of Ottawa, ON; also sister-in-law Helen Marlatt (Lyle).
Mom has left us with many warm memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She was a woman who loved her family, cards, curling, reading, and swimming.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm. in the Elks room in the Memorial Hall.
Mom’s wishes were to be cremated and in lieu of flowers she requested memorial donations to be made to: Parkinson Association of Alberta,120, 6835 Railway St SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2V6.
The Rice family would like to thank the compassionate Caregivers at Chartwell, especially Elsa, family friend, Caregiver, Joanne Millar, Qualicare and the Caregivers at the Good Samaritan. A special thanks to Dr. Redel who provided exceptional care to our Mom.
