On October 20, 2024, Mr. Elmer Коnорка of Flatbush, Alberta passed away at the age of 88 years.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen (nee McCann); son David (Lisa); daughter Brenda; grandchildren, Hanna and Emily; his sister Marlene Gamble of Slave Lake, AB; his brother: Ernie (Jenny) of Slave Lake, AB; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by both of his parents: Gustave and Lucy; and his sister, Helen Brisebois.
Elmer fell in love with heavy equipment at a young age (14) and that passion took him all over Northern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. From logging camps to the oilfields, and clearing land for farmers in the local area, to building roads and highways, he was always on a bulldozer, or some sort of heavy iron.
In “retirement” his pride and joy was his John Deer backhoe. He also enjoyed helping out friends and neighbours with their farm equipment repairs. In later years, his pastimes included watching Westerns, reading, marveling at the wildlife wandering through the yard, and continuously puttering, and finding the most useful creative way to utilize his scrap metal.
As per Elmer’s wishes, he chose to be cremated, with no service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Westlock Hospital during his stay.
