Ken was born and grew up on the farm in Linaria, AB. As a youth he helped with the farm work, logging by horse team and sawmilling. He enjoyed playing on the local baseball team. He left the area for B.C. in 1954 where he earned several trade certificates and spent his working years. He worked as a head sawyer, in construction and maintenance. He retired in 1989 and moved back to Alberta in 1999. As an adult he loved hiking/exploring the wilderness, gardening and working with diamond willows. Family and friends were important to him and he always enjoyed spending time with children.
Ken is survived by two daughters: Marilyn (George) and Kathy (Murray); four grandchildren: Tavin (Natasha), Farrel (Nicole), Kegan and Kendl (Bryan); seven great-grandchildren: Winona, Jayden, Shea, Clover, Olivia, Kaylee and Linden; one sister, Minnie (Basil); three sisters-in-law: Olga, Alice and Gladys.
He was predeceased by parents, Essie and Thomas; eight siblings: Edith, Russell, Abe, Joe, Don, Geordie, Mary and Travis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Ken's honor at the Westlock Ramada Inn banquet room, 11311-100 St., Westlock, AB on Thursday August 31st, 2017 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers anyone who so wishes may make a memorial donation directly to ALS Society of Alberta, 7874-10 St. NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8W1 (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
