Richard Hadley passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the age of 83 years, at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre.
He is survived by his children: Dean (Benita), Craig, and Jennifer (Dave); grandchildren: Adrienne (David), Royce (Samantha), Rory (Danni), Damian (Lindsay), Brennan and Cailin; and great-grandchildren, Rowan and Ryder.
Richard leaves his brother Tom (Tracey); sisters, Joyce (Wayne) and Laura-Jean (Dave); brother and sister-in-laws: Linda (Bert), Lil (Reg), Jill (Harold), Ed (Edna), and Elaine (Brian).
He also leaves his partner, Marlene Fizer, and her family.
Richard is predeceased by his wife Mary; parents, Douglas and Olga; his siblings: Bert, Reg, Harold, and Edna; and his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Brian.
For those that knew Richard, he had charisma that filled a room. He was always willing to help teach someone how to play baseball, curl, golf or fix something. He instilled a work ethic in his grandchildren and felt it was his job to guide them. He was very involved in the Linaria community in many different aspects and thoroughly enjoyed his time as president of the local rural electrification association. Richard loved to talk about vehicles and equipment. When he wasn’t farming, “checking crops”, visiting neighbors or fixing something, he loved to play sports. In his younger years he played baseball and throughout his life he golfed and curled/floor curled.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Coma and all the staff at the Westlock Continuing Care Center for his care. Gratitude to Delaina Rijken with Healing Hearts for taking him out for his weekly outings.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Linaria Hall, 1426 Township Road 614 #1, Westlock County, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's honor can be made directly to the Westlock Healthcare Auxiliary Society, 10220-93 Street, Westlock, AB, CA, T7P2G4, or directly to Linaria Community Hall, Box 14 Site 3 RR 1, Westlock, AB, T7P 2N9.
