It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Charles Lockwood on August 26, 2026, at the age of 90.
Gordon was a man who was happiest outdoors. Throughout his life, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending his time surrounded by nature. Whether in the bush, by the water, or simply enjoying the outdoors, it was where Gordon felt most at home.
Gordon spent his long working life in the construction and sawmill industries. He was no stranger to hard work and carried that work ethic throughout his life. He ended his career alongside his beloved wife, June, operating For Far Recreational Park together, combining his working years with his love of the outdoors.
Gordon leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his children, Beth (Craig) and David (Amie); eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. His life, stories, and memories will continue through the generations of the family he leaves behind.
He was predeceased by his three brothers and three sisters; his grandson, Skyler; and his beloved wife, June, who passed away on August 28, 2025. Gordon followed June almost exactly one year later, after a lifetime of memories made together. There is comfort in imagining them reunited once again.
Over his ninety years, Gordon built a life rooted in family, hard work, and the outdoors. His memory will live on around campfires, on quiet mornings spent fishing, in hunting stories told and retold, and in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada (In support of Juvenile diabetes) or Arthritis Society of Canada (In support of juvenile arthritis).
A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held on September 12, 2026, Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Church of the Nazarene,10516-103 St., Westlock, Alberta, followed by interment at Dapp Cemetery.
