It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irmgard "Irma" Jandl in Westlock, Alberta at the age of 90 years.
Irma is survived by her daughter Christine (Ed); son Andrew; grandson Brandon; brother Werner (Inge) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and neighbors. Irma is predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Joe; her brother Rudy; and her sister Christa.
Irma loved her garden. It was her favorite place, and it showed. She spent countless hours tending to her roses, marigolds, peonies, or in her raspberries and strawberries. She loved to pick blueberries and highbush cranberries. Her cold room held preserves of all kinds, and of course, canned peaches among the many jars there. She liked to fish and go on morning or evening runs with Joe. She was an excellent cook. it seemed she could make a meal in minutes out of nothing. She was a volunteer in the community, often found in the kitchen with the Ladies Club or Silver Threads. She loved to read her Harlequin romance stories, to watch the setting sun and night skies and the hummingbirds come, quiet afternoons on the deck with her book in hand and her feet up, listening to the sounds of birds all around her..
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Flatbush Seniors Centre in Flatbush, Alberta, with Michelle Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Flatbush Cemetery.
Those wishing to honour her memory may make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5H 4K1, or to the Flatbush Public Cemetery, Box 102, Flatbush, AB T0G 0Z0.
